![]() The sociolinguistics approach to the study of Arabic terminology has allowed us to identify the main trends of its development. In the process of adaptation, foreign-language terms are adapted to the conditions of functioning of the Arabic language. The task was to provide the new content in education that meets the needs of the world’s scientifc and technological progress. The rapid growth of science and technology has led to the emergence in the Arabic of many new concepts and intensive borrowing of foreign language terms. It was about switching the entire national education system to Arabic, and the introduction of classical language as everyday communication.The transformation of the political situation in the Arab region was accompanied by the systematic repression of the colonial language, lexical enrichment of the composition of the modern literary language, the development of a national terminology. The nationalization of education was a fundamental principle of the language of the Arab countries’ policies. Following the national liberation movement of the Arab countries, starting from the second half of the 20th century has repeatedly raised the issue of the ofcial status of the Arabic language at the regional and global levels. It is important to trace the factors that influenced the process of forming its lexical composition. This article deals with the problems of the formation and functioning of modern terminology in the countries of the Arab East.
